My IT journey began in childhood with a Commodore-64, which gave me the opportunity to understand basic hardware, software, IO, and QBasic programming. Before I turned 17, I was earning an income by providing computer services to small businesses and individuals, including software, training, PC hardware, and reselling internet subscriptions.
In development phase of my knowledge and expertise, I worked part-time writing technology news for a newspaper, which allowed me to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field. At the same time, I was deeply engaged in learning computer concepts, analysis, programming languages, web development, and business concepts through my coursework and hands-on experience.
My professional IT career started in 2006 when I joined the local branch of a service provider specializing in connectivity services for banks. I pursued the same field in University, and I hold bachelor in IT Engineering.
Today, I am an IT Service Management and Delivery expert with a background in Production Operations. I have a strong history with banking messaging systems and operational environments, and I am a financial networks and systems specialist, SWIFT technical expert, and experienced IT team leader. I excel in implementing IT solutions in both test and production environments, as well as providing support and implementation services for mission-critical services. My expertise includes financial messaging SWIFT (network, systems, products, and services) and SWIFT service bureau management (SIP, CSP, design, implementation, support, and maintenance). I am well-versed in IT management (leadership, IT service management) and consultancy, with extensive experience in training, coaching, and mentoring team members.
I am a specialist in SWIFT interfaces and connectivity products, such as the SWIFT Alliance family (Alliance Access, Alliance Gateway, Alliance WebPlatform), and similar products from other vendors. I successfully bypassed SWIFT certification for the Service Bureau track with excellent results and am currently pursuing ITILv4 Foundation certification.
In my work, regardless of the position or primary function, I prioritize analytical thinking over self-promotion. I am result-oriented, customer-centric, and slightly perfectionist. My areas of interest include ITSM, service delivery, leadership, customer experience, processes, procedures, knowledge management, and operations.
I believe people are the main asset of every company, and knowledge is the most important intangible asset.
In life, I am father of Two, aviation geek, holder of a Private Pilot License (UL – Expired), Cyclist, In love with nature, history, demography, culture, art, photography, and history.
Living in the beautiful Flanders (Belgium), with the great access to the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, Germany, and UK, I enjoy nice scenes, medieval architecture, culture, people, and of course good wine and beer!
At home, together with the family, we do great works. We had to fully renovate a house and we learnt (and spent) a lot!
I have the potential of being work-alcoholic. After I moved to Belgium, I learned how to make a good balance between work and life. Never want to go back to old days.
